Your guide to create customized .m4r ringtone is perfect, I managed to create it in iTunes Library > Rigtones (currently this is the only file I have there). I want to sync it with Ringtones on my iPhone 3GS (the last step). However when doing so I get a warning: “Are you sure … All existing ringtones on iPhone will be replaced with ringtones from your iTunes Library”. That means I am going to loose ALL iPhone device ringtones for my single customized one. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Mate, this is how I do it on a “PC” and it works awesome everytime. When your in itunes find the song you want. Now right click it and “get info”. Go to “options” and add your “start time” and your “stop time”. Now click “Ok”. Make sure it isn’t longer then 40 seconds as it won’t work as a ringtone! Now right click again and select “create ACC version”. Now delete the duplicate from your itunes but make sure you select “keep file” otherwise you won’t be able to find it. Now find where you saved your ringtone, normally in your profile in the itunes folder. Make sure you are able to rename the file extension from “m4a” to “m4r”. Go back into itunes and select “ringtones”. Now click on “file” and select “add file to library”. It should now be available as a ringtone. Click on your device and and select “ringtones” and sync the ringtone you have just created. Now you should have your very own custom ringtone! Hope that helps you out mate. Good Luck.

I have created my 30 second wma ringtone and placed it into my itunes ringtone folder….but it will not sync with my iphone 3GS – what am i doing wrong?

I can’t seem to change my itunes files to .m4r files from a .m4a file to make it go to ringtones. Even if I take it out of itunes and put it on my desktop. Does anyone know anyway around this?

hi i am having a problem as i am not able to select the start, stop boxes as stated in the process please let me know what the problem could be and how to overcome it. i am currently using the latest itunes.

Garry: Go to iTunes Preferences from the menu bar (iTunes/Preferences for Mac or Edit/Preferences for PC) and in the General tab you will see a number of checkboxes for Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts etc… Just tick the Ringtones box and it will appear in your sidebar :)

I live in England and am thinking of buying the new iphone 3g.

I want to add my own ringtones to do this and knew there are many programs that let me create my own ringtones.

The problem is that I have no Ringtone tab on my itunes.

Does this appear when I connect an iphone to my computer?
