FREE iPhone 3G!

Sorry for the slightly sensationalist headline! But iPhone 3G day is only 1 week away and I’m over excited!
It is also true, well in UK at least. But I know a high proportion of readers to this blog are not in UK, so apologies if the same does not apply to you.
Old Contracts
One of the main reasons I didn’t purchase an original iPhone last year (apart from the lack of 3G) was the poor contracts. This was probably due to Apple only allowing 1 network provider, therefore removing the need for o2 to be competitive and also Apple taking a cut of each contract for themselves.
I am with 3 Mobile at the moment and receive 750minutes and 300 texts for £35 a month. At the time this was a good deal and much better than the stingy o2 iPhone contracts. I also pay £5 a month for unlimited web browsing/data.
New Contracts
As excited as I was to hear about 3G, GPS, MobileMe and the App Store at the Keynote last month. I was even more impressed and surprised when I found the new o2 iPhone Tariffs.

As you can see the new tariffs are vastly improved on last year and actually very competitive at the moment. I plan on signing up for the £45 contract. I will be receiving 450 extra minutes and 200 extra texts for just £5 per month extra! Already a very attractive deal but the best is yet to come!
FREE iPhone!
As you may have noticed in the tariffs above, you can actually get your iPhone totally free!
The 8gb model is free with the £45 and £75 and you can even get the 16gb model free with the £75 deal!
Although it’s great to be able to get the iPhone for free, especially considering it cost over £300 on it’s launch last year!! I think personally I will be getting a 16gb model not the 8gb, but even that at the new price will cost an amazing £59 on my contract!
Thank you Apple and thank you o2!

Yes I agree you should shell the extra £60 for the 16gb version. I have the old 8gb which is fine but I think £60 rpresents good value for an extra 8gb of memory which will be use with all the new apps they are making available etc.
